News X: Earlier Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde consulted Shankaracharya Swami Sawroopanand Saraswati and other seers, to seek their approval for the mass cremation. According to sources, the seers said the rituals must be done properly and a wooden pyre should be used. Following this, the local authorities sourced around 150 quintals of wood to Gauchar, from where a helicopter carried it to Kedarnath for the cremation.
