News X: The toll figure in the Uttarakhand flood tragedy still continues to be hotly debated.While the official figure is under 1,000. The Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker has claimed that it could cross 10,000. Contradicting claims were made a few days back after Uttarakhand Disaster Management Minister Yashpal Arya made a statement claiming that atleast 5000 people were killed in the deluge. On Saturday, however, over 1300 pilgrims including some villagers were evacuated while about 500 people still were not.
