Law Minister Kapil Sibal has proposed a Judicial Appointment Commission to replace the 20-year-old collegiums system to choose judges. If this is approved, the Government will have a say in appointing the Supreme Court and High Court judges. Legal experts are questioning the government's move as they may give a free hand to the government.
