Naxal Attack: Maoists kill Congress leader

NewsX: Naxals have struck again, this time in Chhattisgarh. Around 250 Naxals in civilian clothes struck a convoy of Congress leaders.

They were proceeding on the party's Parivartan Rally in Chhattisgarh's Jagdalpur on Saturday when the attack happened.

The attack killed 24 people including senior party leader Mahendra Karma and a former legislator Uday Mudaliar.

The body of Chhattisgarh Congress chief Nand Kumar Patel who had been abducted by the Naxals in this attack was recovered. His one son Dinesh Patel who had also been abducted was killed too.

Former Union minister and senior Congress leader VC Shukla was injured in the attack and was airlifted to state capital Raipur.

He has been airlifted to Delhi for further treatment.

Thirty two people, including 20 policemen, who were accompanying the convoy which was on its way back from Sukma to Jagdalpur, were also injured in the attack.

Remember, Mahender Karma is the one who started Salwa Judum - the controversial anti naxalite movement.
