Thane building collapse: Death toll rises to 68

In the Thane Building collapse, 4 more bodies have been recovered overnight, raising the death toll to 68, out of two absconding builders, one of them arrested. Amongst this are 17 children.. 15 women and 20 men and over 62 people were left injured. Sources say that many more are feared buried under the debris and rescue operations are still underway. Preliminary reports indicate that the seven-storey building was unauthorised and inferior quality materials were used for its construction. Also civic authorities claim that building existed on forest land and was occupied at least up to the fourth floor. Meanwhile, sources tell NewsX the builder Salim Shaikh has been arrested by the Mumbai police. Another accused, Salim's brother Jammel Kuraishi still absconding.
