Sant Rampal medical checkup at hospital

Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday issued fresh non-bailable warrants against the controversial self-styled godman, sant Rampal to ensure his presence before the high court on November 17 in a contempt of court case.

Visibly upset from Rampal's attempt to disobey the court orders, HC has also issued him a notice asking as to why his bail, granted by high court in May 2008 in a murder case, should not be cancelled.

On November 5, the HC had issued non-bailable warrants against sant Rampal and his close aide Ram Kumar Dhaka for intentionally disobeying the high court orders and had directed the Haryana DGP and home secretary to arrest and produce them before the court.

When the matter came up for hearing on Monday, Haryana DGP, S N Vasisth, filed an affidavit stating that Ram Kumar Dhaka has been arrested but the arrest warrants of Sant Rampal could not be executed on account of his poor health condition. It was also informed that when police reached to arrest Rampal at his ashram at Barwala in Hisar, his followers informed the personnel about his illness. Thereafter, a medical examination was done by the doctors from civil hospital, Hisar, and confirmed that he was seriously ill.
