Lalu Nitish alliance came as a victory in Bihar bypolls

Counting has begun in Bihar for the ten assembly seats that had gone to bypolls last week. Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad has taken ill and has been rushed to Mumbai for a medical check-up.

The RJD-JDU-Congress maha alliance seems to be in the driving seat as it is leading in 6 of the 10 seats that have gone to polls, while the BJP is leading in the remaining 4 seats.

These bypolls are being touted by political pundits as 'semi-final' before the full-fledged assembly elections scheduled next year. The counting centres are ready, and all eyes are on them to know not only about the fate of 94 candidates sealed in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), but also to understand which direction the political wind is blowing in Bihar.
