Good news coming forth on the medical condition of Pakistani School girl Malaa Yousafzai who was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman in Pakistan. Doctors attending on her at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in London, have said that Malala is out of a medically induced coma and has recovered enough to stand with assistance and communicate by writing. However, doctors have also expressed caution saying that she is still very ill and that a full evaluation of her brain injury had not been possible because her brain was still swollen. Malala was shot while riding a school bus on October 9 in the Swat valley. She had become a symbol of resistance against the Taliban, advocating access to education for girls.
