Man stays in jail despite bail - NewsX

NewsX brings you the story of a hapless man who is an accused in a case of cheating.... But has become a victim of technical procedures due to which he remains in a Mumbai jail upto ten months since the Supreme Court granted him bail. Although Supratim was given bail by the Supreme Court in January 2012, he's not come out of jail thanks to red-tape. Supratim was given bail on a surety of 1 lakh rupees but the trial court refused to accept it as it didn't have the solvency certificate. Supratim's parents moved the Supreme Court challenging the Maharashtra Criminal Manual rules that insist on the solvency certificate. But the Supreme Court refused to entertain it. Now another petition has been filed with a prayer that a cash bail be accepted.
