Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's concern over 'Frivolous and Vexatious' use of the RTI Act infringing on personal privacy has drawn severe flak from social activists. The activists have also slammed the Prime Minister for suggesting the exempting of public-private-partnerships from the Act. Social Activists led by National Advisory Council member Aruna Roy have alleged that the Prime Minister's concern signals support from the 'highest quarters' to those keen on diluting the RTI Act. Aruna Roy along with others said and I quote." The concerns expressed by the PM will support and pass a signal to those who want to dilute and weaken the act. Citizens will be deprived of a transparent and accountable system."
