Nation celebrates Sri Krishna Janmashtami - NewsX

The whole nation is set to celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna today as Janmashtmi fervour grips the whole nation. Krishna devotees thronged markets to purchase puja material, colourful cradle for Lord Krishna, wall hangings, golden bells, balloons, coloured printed papers. Special preparations are on in Mathura Vrindavan considered the birthplace of Krishna. In Mumbai and many parts of Western India, Dahi handi preparations are at their pitch. Colourful Krishna attire for children and cradles for Bal Gopal a huge draw, tableaux at homes, stone and clay idols, to bright dresses and handicraft items the fervour is all over. The puja would start from morning and the festivities would go on till 12 in the night with a huge celebration of Lord Krishna's birth.
