Wrestler Geeta Phogat to begin her Olympic campaign today - NewsX

Indian wrestler Geeta Phogat will start her campaign in the 55kg freestyle category today. She will face Athens silver and Beijing bronze medal winner Verbeek Toya Lynn of Canada in the opening encounter of her 55 kg freestyle event. The Haryana wrestler is the first-ever Indian woman wrestler to have qualified for the Olympics. Phogat won a gold medal in the Wrestling FILA Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament in Kazakhstan to book her London ticket. Geeta Phogat's father Mahavir Phogat has been her inspiration and her coach as well. Geeta had earlier won gold in the 2009 Commonwealth Wrestling Championship. All eyes are now on this girl from Balai village in Bhiwani district .
