Maharashtra Congress reaches out to NCP - NewsX

After speculation was rife over the NCP leadership wanting the Prime Minister and Congress party President Sonia Gandhi to rein in the Maharashtra Chief Minister. Prithviraj Chavan has hit back. He called for a meeting with Maharashtra Congress MLAs to discuss NCP's threat to withdraw support to the UPA. The crucial meet in Mumbai comes ahead of NCP's own meeting in the capital today. But all may not be smooth sailing within the Maharashtra Congress either. According to sources, just like the NCP, several Congress MLAs are unhappy with Prithviraj Chavan and want him replaced. Infact, the Maharashtra State Congress President has written to NCP appealing them to participate in a joint meeting to iron out issues.
