Sharad Pawar, Praful Patel resign from Cabinet - NewsX

According to sources, NCP ministers Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel have sent their resignation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday after keeping away from a Cabinet meeting in a move seen as an attempt to put pressure on the Congress leadership. Pawar is said to be miffed over the denial of Number 2 status in the Cabinet after the exit of Pranab Mukherjee. Pawar, NCP chief and Union agriculture minister and heavy industries minister Patel, kept themselves away from the Cabinet meeting on Thursday evening and were closeted with some senior party leaders at Pawar's residence at the same time.
