Maharashtra's governing alliance partner NCP seems to be in a bit of a spot. The state CM Prithviraj Chavan said that his govt would soon bring out a white paper on irrigation projects that were cleared in the state in the last one decade. Opposition alleges that in the last ten years a number of irrigation projects have seen their cost escalating dramatically, even by 2000 per cent in some cases.
