Even as the budget session is off to a stormy start, with parliament witness to scenes of disruption yesterday, Dinesh Trivedi will be presenting his first ever rail budget later today. TMC leader Dinesh Trivedi is widely expected to present a populist budget, in-line with his predecessor Mamata Banerjee, who gave pragmatism a go by, as the Indian Railways continued to struggle in the red. Analysts predict, that the Rail Minister is unlikely to announce any major fare hike, even though a safety cess is expected to add to the cost of rail travel. However, major announcements expected this budget would include upgrading of signaling and telecommunications systems in trains, including fast tracking installation of collision warning and signaling systems. Also Trivedi is likely to come good on earlier promises to inaugurate coach manufacturing plants in TMC's core constituency, West Bengal.
