India News : Flood throws Gujarat, UP out of gear

India News : Heavy rain that began continued to lash Gujarat, prompting authorities to sound high alert in Bharuch and Vadodara where downpour has paralysed normal life.
The Met Department has predicted heavy rain for almost all parts of the state -- North and South Gujarat and Saurashtra. Officials of the department said the low pressure area near western Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas is causing heavy rain in Gujarat, adding that the situation was likely to ease from Monday.
Meanwhile, flood situation in Uttar Pradesh showed no sign of relenting, as downpours continued to swell major rivers and caused displacement of lakhs of people, inundating large swathes of land and destroying crops.
