정상간 산책은 성공적 회담 요건, 북미의 베트남판 '도보다리 산책' 기대

Some of the highlights from previous summits between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and other world leaders could have been the friendly strolls they took together.
Whether it was on the footbridge, a beach, or around the summit venue,... there were a lot of attention on the walks.
So will we see more of them in Hanoi this time?
Hwang Hojun tells us more.
No security.
No aides.
No eavesdropping reporters.
It all started last April when President Moon and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un held their historic first inter-Korean summit near the demilitarized zone.
They were set to go for a short walk in between their summit meetings, but what was meant to be short ended up lasting about half an hour.
The walk was live streamed, and images of the two Korean leaders walking past the military demarcation line, on a blue footbridge left an imprint on viewers around the world.
It was during this stroll, according to a Blue House official, that President Moon privately handed over some materials related to his vision for economic cooperation between the two Koreas to Kim - a booklet and a thumb drive.
Less than two weeks after that, Kim Jong-un made a secret visit to Dalian, China to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Aside from their talks, and attending a formal banquet, the two leaders also took a walk along the beach in the port city.
The Chinese state media said an in-depth exchange of views on Pyeongyang-Beijing relations took place during that walk, calling it a quote "cordial and friendly environment."
Observers would say the "Beach Walk" was China's way of declaring that it would not be sidelined by the changing geopolitical dynamics in the region.
A couple of months later, during the landmark summit between Kim Jong-un and U.S. President Donald Trump in Sentosa, Singapore, another private stroll,... even without translators.
Kim and Trump stepped out of their one-on-one meeting to take a walk around the Capella Hotel, where the summit was held.
Trump described his private meeting with Kim as "top of the line, really good".
Now as the world turns its focus to Hanoi, Vietnam for the second Trump-Kim summit, another picturesque private stroll between the two leaders is expected as it has now become an essential part of summit diplomacy,... a 'must-do' to for a successful meeting.
