U.S. lawmakers say sanctions on N. Korea to remain until significant steps made on denuclearization
  • 5 years ago
With the second North Korea-U.S. summit fast approaching, the U.S. Congress seems to be pondering over what to do about the existing sanctions on Pyeongyang.
In an interview with VOA,... U.S. Representative Ted Yoho,.. member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee,... said U.S. sanctions on Pyeongyang will remain until complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization is achieved.
U.S. Senator Cory Gardner,... Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asia and the Pacific also said no sanctions on the North will be lifted until CVID.
Some other Congressmen like Brad Sherman,.. a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee,...also agreed that the U.S. has to maintain the sanctions,... but said the U.S. needs to have more realistic goals,... instead of CVID,... like limiting the number of nuclear weapons.
