Caution: Some of the images in this video are disturbing. Blackface has a long, painful, and racist history in the U.S. It became popular in the mid-1800's mistrel shows when white performers darkened their faces to depict African Americans in prejudicial and offensive ways. Dwandalyn Reece, curator of music and performing arts at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss why understanding the history of blackface is crucial.
