Satyam (satyanarayana) and Radha are sibblings. Their father strives a lot to educate them. He doesn't even care for his health and spends the last rupee for his children's education. Radha is a careless girl. While Satyam is trying to find a good job so that he can support his father, Radha is in love with a guy. Satyam gets married to Parvathy and they have a cute little son Gopi. Facing failures at every stpe of life, Satyam gets frustated. Radha finds out that she is pregnant and unable to face Satyam she leaves the house. And even Satyam's father dies due to illness. Satyam is left all alone with his wife and a child and is stil unemployed and doesn't know what to do in life. At this situation he gets so frustated that he starts hating studies and believes that education is solely responsible for ruining his family. He starts working as a rickshaw driver but he comes to know that inspite of several warnings Parvathy is sending Gopi to school. He hits Parvathy for violating his orders and she dies on the spot. Satyam now has no aim in life. Satyam once finds Gopi studying and he runs behind him to hit him. Gopi stops in front of Dharmayya (Gummadi)'s car. Dharmayya is a very rich but kind and honest business man. He believes that only educated persons are well mannered and well mannered persons can improve the society. He requets Satyam to give Gopi to him so that he can take care and educate the child. Satyam challenges Dharmayya that due to education Gopi will spoil his life but Dharmayya is very much sure that Gopi will reach heights with education.
