World’s largest commute underway in China

As the Lunar New Year approaches, a massive movement of people across China is getting underway as families gather to celebrate the biggest festival of the year. An estimated three billion trips are made during the seasonal travel rush, also known as Chunyun. This year’s travel spree began on January 21, 15 days ahead of the start of Year of the Pig on February 5, 2019. Hundreds of extra trains carriages have been put into service to handle the world’s largest human migration is expected to last until the beginning of March.
