Chaotic scenes from a Catholic festival in the Philippines where hundreds of thousands of barefooted worshippers scrambled to touch an effigy of Jesus Christ. Dozens of people were injured or collapsed during the frenetic 20-hour parade through the capital city Manila. Every year the worshippers climb on each other to try to touch, kiss and rub a piece of cloth on the statue while older devotees who are not as strong toss their towels to the men guarding the statue so they will be the one to rub it and throw it back to them. Footage from the event on January 9, 2019, shows how several casualties of the event had to be carried away on stretchers to receive medical attention.
