Viggo Mortensen on 'Green Book' and the fight against racism
  • 5 years ago
His latest film, "Green Book", recounts the true story of the white chauffeur who accompanied a celebrated black musician on a tour of America's segregated southern states. From a small-town guy with a very dark past in "A History of Violence" to the fantasy fictional king of the "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, Viggo Mortensen has long been applauded for bringing social, political and psychological complexity to his roles.
The actor tells France 24’s Olivia Salazar-Winspear why the fight against racism is still as urgent today as it was in 1962, and how he found himself at the centre of a controversy surrounding the use of the "n-word".
