The government has also strengthened measures to prevent leak of new industrial technology to foreign firms.
At a ministerial meeting today... the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said it will require all local companies possessing crucial technology to report to authorities when merging with, or acquiring, foreign companies.
It'll also fine tech leakers up to three times the amount of damages,... and confiscate any economic gains that were amassed through such activities.
According to the trade ministry, more than 20 cases of tech leaks, including those related to the country's core industries like semiconductors, have been reported almost every year.
