ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has sought a response from the federal government over the decision of placing 172 people on the Exit Control List (ECL) in connection to mega money laundering case.

As per details, a two-judge bench, under the stewardship of Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, heard the high-profile case involving former president Asif Ali Zardari, Faryal Taplur, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and other Pakistan Peoples Party leaders and businessmen.

The director of Federal Investigation Team (FIA) read out the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report in the courtroom, which was submitted before the apex court bench during the last hearing on Dec 24.

The Chief Justice inquired the rationale behind the federal government’s decision of placing 172 people on the ECL and directed State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi to present before the court after the break. Further, the minister has been asked to appear along with a summary in this regard.
