Josef Strauss composed the adroit Adamira-Polka during the carnival season of 1860. As reported in one article in the trade paper Der Zwischenakt by journalist Eugene Eiserle, who was always well-disposed toward the Strauss brothers. In Eiserle's critique of Josef's work, he wrote: "In Josef Strauss we find a pronounced special talent for the national dance, and here he excels as with all compositions of this genre, in terms of wealth of melodies, characteristic colouring and original rhythms".
