Gear & Rigs Explained - How, Why and When I Use My Tackle - 26/8/17 (Video 33)

After several questions online I thought it would be a good idea to make a video showing my gear and rigs. I have touched on this in my bank-side videos but never in any detail.
Eventually I have got around to doing a video which properly explains the gear that I use, why and how I use it.
I'm sure there is nothing revolutionary here, just a bit of a mash-up of carp, specimen and match gear fashioned to suit my styles of fishing.
As I stress in the video, when making rigs you must ALWAYS ensure your rigs are "safe". By this I mean that ALL the terminal tackle MUST slide clear of the line with the minimum of pressure should you have a breakage. It is for this reason that my rigs have evolved into what they are today, and why I fish what some people would consider as "heavy" for fishing a small/medium sized river - I use 12/15lb manline (depending on snags etc) and a similar strength hooklinks. I always try, where possible, to use a hooklink with a breaking strain less than the mainline, ensuring that if the line snaps it is the hooklink that breaks, not the mainline, leaving the fish attached to just a hook and short piece of line. Even this is not ideal but better than leaving a fish trailing lots of terminal tackle.
However, fishing with line and hooklinks of this breaking strain I can't remember ever having the line break. If fishing on the heavy side means I miss out on a few bites that I may get if I scaled down, but I don't compromise fish safety, then I am happy with that.
I hope it all makes sense but please post any further questions below and I will be happy to answer them.
