Two Koreas to hold working-level talks on communication
  • 5 years ago
Delegations from South and North Korea will meet at the joint liaison office in the coming hours for working-level talks on communication.
The North proposed holding the talks, and the South accepted.
Seoul's unification ministry says the talks will mainly center around changing the direct communication lines between Seoul and Pyeongyang... from copper cables to fiber-optic cables.
Providing fiber-optic cables to North Korea does not violate the UN sanctions -- an exemption was granted earlier this year when the two Koreas worked to restore their military communication lines.
South and North Korea are both sending five-member delegations to the meeting, both led by senior officials from their information and communication bodies.
