Lithium, the white gold of Bolivia's salt desert

Lithium is an extremely light metal which is an essential component in the batteries of electric vehicles. The South American nation of Bolivia is home to the world's largest lithium reserves and has decided to embark on large-scale extraction. The lithium is located under the world's largest salt desert, Salar de Uyuni, located 4,000 metres above sea level. Our colleagues from France 2 report, with FRANCE 24's James Vasina.
