Is the Audi A4 Saloon the best compact executive car to buy? With fierce competition from the BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Jaguar XE, it has its work cut out.

There’s plenty of choice, though, with four-door A4 Saloon, five-door A4 Avant and A4 Allroad options. There’s also a wide range of petrol and diesel engines and performance models like the S4 and RS4 Avant, and if you want a sleeker option, the A5 Coupe and Cabriolet are based on the A4.
