When the Saints go Marching in – Climax Jazz Band/Ruby Wilson Japan 1995
No concert is complete without an impromtu finale. As you might have seen before, the programmed final tune was Amazing Grace, but then, after a long standing applause we decided to throw in an encore. All we had to do was to discuss the key, so singer Ruby Wilson would be comfortable and off we went, just like that: The band, Ruby singing and up in the carillon tower Jack Maassen just playing the tune as if he had done it hundreds of time with us.
I hope you enjoyed this presentation of a for our band unique experience. It was the highlight of the band’s existence and together with Ruby, Jack, and a crowd of over 8000 it has not been beaten and I’m certain never will. Thank you Mrs Koyama and the Shinji Shumeeikai organisation and their beautiful place in Misona Japan to have been able to make this possible.
