Three scientists have been awarded the 2018 Nobel Prize in physics for their "groundbreaking inventions" in the field of laser physics.
American physicist Arthur Askin is to receive half of the one million U.S. dollar prize for developing optical tweezers,...which allow light to handle small particles.
The other half of the prize will be received by French physicist Gerard Morou and Canadian physicist Donna Strickland for their work on developing intense laser pulses.
Strickland is only the third woman in history to win the physics prize.
