This wasn’t Aadhaar Act but 'Sarkari Adhikaar Act': Kapil Sibal

Congress veteran leader Kapil Sibal said that the Aadhaar Act was not only unconstitutional but also against democracy. He also said that the party is of the opinion that Aadhaar Bill should be discussed in Rajya Sabha. "This is not Aadhaar Act, it’s a ‘Sarkari Adhikaar Act’. This is a private companies Act thatthe Supreme Court has read down. Had they listened to us, the biometric data of crores of people would not have gone to private companies, be it telecom companies, banking sector or private sector. Today, the private data of these people is with the companies, which will be misused because there is no provision by which this data can be deleted. This was not only unconstitutional but also against democracy. Today the Supreme Court heard us and said Section 57 which gives private companies the right to take Aadhaar data is unconstitutional."
