According to Reuters, tennis player Naomi Osaka has became the first Japanese player to win a Grand Slam singles after beating Serena Williams 6-2 and 6-4 in the U.S. Open final. This is 20 year old Osaka's first major final of her career. Osaka's win prevented Williams from taking home what would have been a record-equaling 24th Grand Slam title. Osaka earned the win after Williams handed a game penalty during the second set for a code violation involving illegal on-court coaching.
