Authorities beef up inspections as first case of African swine fever has been detected in Jeju Airport
  • 6 years ago
The first case of deadly African swine fever was detected at South Korea's Jeju International Airport on Wednesday.
The agriculture ministry confirmed the virus was found in processed pork products brought in by a Chinese tourist.
The virus was also found in livestock products that a Chinese tourist brought into South Korea via Incheon International Airport late last month.
As a result,... authorities are beefing up inspections on Chinese tourists and livestock products that they carry.
While the virus doesn't harm humans,... it's highly contagious among domestic pigs and wild boars.
