Hacking a Leatherman for Bike Repair

The Leatherman Skeletool can be used to work on your mountain bike by just replacing some of the bits it came with.

Consider the advantages of this type of tool (if you're only going to carry one tool). When mountain biking, you aren't performing complex installations and repairs. In fact, you're probably trying to smash your chainring back into place with your shoe or a rock. So, having some pliers and a knife handy is pretty nice. The heavy duty bottle opener is a big plus too.
The good thing about the interchangeable bits is that you can just carry whatever is needed for your bicycle.
While I still recommend a good bike-specific multi-tool to keep in your backpack, this is a great daily carry for anyone who does a lot of bike riding, as it can be used for other things as well.
