Chaos on streets of Vietnam after football team advances to Asian Games semis

Thousands of Vietnamese football fans poured out into the streets following the men’s team quarter-final win over Syria in the Asian Games on Monday (August 28).

Video shows chaotic scenes, with fans on mopeds letting off flares, waving flags and honking horns in Haiphong city in northeastern Vietnam following their team's 1-0 extra-time win.

Vietnam will meet South Korea in the semifinals on Wednesday (August 29). Local media reported that this is the first time Vietnam has reached the last four of the Asian Games, also known as Asiad, which is taking place in Jakarta and Palembang.
