Stalin is the new president of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). He was elected at the party’s general council meeting on Tuesday. Karunanidhi held the position for 49 years, till he died earlier this month. Party’s 65 district secretaries proposed his name for the top post. His was the only one nominated and won unapposed. Stalin became DMK’s working president in January last year.
