Kim Jong-un expressed 'desire to have more market forces' in country: Pompeo

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is hoping to have a more market-based economy... and the U.S. is willing to help.
That's what U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview with CNBC on Monday.
He said he told Kim about the importance of attracting private investment... and that there would be a brighter future for North Korea if it denuclearizes.
Pompeo was asked whether Kim expressed a desire to free up more market forces and he answered "yes."
The secretary also told Kim that Americans would invest in North Korea if it becomes open and rules-based.
Pompeo will be attending the ASEAN Regional Forum this week along with the foreign ministers of South Korea, North Korea and China.
The U.S. State Department announced Pompeo will be stressing the U.S. commitment to North Korea's 'final, fully verified denuclearization.'
