Thoothukudi resident Prince Cardoza has filed a writ petition before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court seeking to quash Environmental Clearance granted to Sterlite in 2007 for the existing 4 lakh tonne/year smelter unit. The Court has admitted the petition, and issued notices to Union Ministry of Environment, Customs Department, TNPCB and TN Government.
