North Korea begins dismantling Sohae Satellite Launching Station: 38 North
  • 6 years ago
Despite reports emerging about the supposed lack of progress on North Korea's denuclearization,... it appears Pyongyang has taken a first step toward fulfilling its June 12th Joint Statement with the U.S.
According to U.S.-based North Korea monitoring website 38 North on Monday, new commercial satellite imagery of the Sohae Satellite Launching Station, the regime's main satellite launch facility, shows the North has started dismantling key facilities.
They include the rocket engine rail-mounted processing building, where parts for space vehicles are assembled.
As the facilities are believed to be important parts of the regime's ICBM program, 38 North says such efforts are a significant step by North Korea.
The launching station is believed to be the one North Korea promised U.S. President Donald Trump it would take down during their summit in Singapore.
