Women displaced by violence quilt their stories in Peru

A group of Peruvian women displaced from their homes by the violence during the country's internal conflict (1980-2000) sow their stories into colourful scenes known as "arpilleras." The intricate fabrics allow the women to elaborate a canvas from their memories, illustrating "where they lived, how they lived and what they left behind."
