U.S. To Reunite Only Half Of Migrant Kids With Parents By Deadline
  • 6 years ago
The U.S. government is having trouble reuniting immigrant families it separated at the border with Mexico.
Reuters reports only half the children under age 5 will be with their parents by Tuesday.
The government said it would reunite the approximately 100 children under the age of 5 by Tuesday.
It said it would reunite the estimated 2,000 older children by July 26.
A U.S. Department of Justice attorney said some of the children cannot be reunited with their parents.
She said they've been deported, failed a background check, or were unable to prove they were the parent.
