Cologne 19.05.15: The Golf GTE Sport transports the Volkswagen GT tradition into the world of tomorrow. A total of three engines – united in a 295 kW/400 horsepower plug-in hybrid drive unit – drive the high tech Golf, which is largely made of carbon fibre. The 280 kilometres an hour concept car blurs the conventional boundaries between street and racing car: its progressive hybrid system in combination with a high tech four-wheel drive system, the lightweight bodywork, optimum aerodynamic values, a highly precise suspension system, together with new motor sport cockpit and unusual seating concept make for breath-taking performance on the racetrack. But at the push of a button, the concept car can also be driven for up to 50 kilometres using the electric motor alone, and therefore emissions-free.
