Arun Jaitley has written a blog remembering how the emergency ended. In a lengthy post, he wrote how world leaders were aghast at the emergency which Indira Gandhi insisted would be a temporary phase. Jaitley recounted Vajpayee's and other leaders' roles in opposing the emergency. He also stressed that now muzzling the media is no longer possible thanks to new technology.
