Three out of the seven electronic live artists from the Vernacular Orchestra worked on this melodic, ethereal techno production. Parisian Skwig and THD, a duo formed of two other producers from Paris. The name « Pawns » refers to rue de l'échiquier ("chessboard street" in English) : the location of Vernacular Records' studio and the flatshare of the three artists.
