الترميم هو فن إحياء قطع فنية تعود إلى الماضي مع المحافظة على سلامتها وأهميتها لتستفيد منها أجيال المستقبل. الترميم هو من التحديات الكبيرة التي تواجه المتاحف وأصحاب المجموعات الخاصة، كونه يحتاج إلى معرفة تاريخية وفنية وعلمية وتكنولوجية وعملية. يتطلب ترميم القطع الفنية الالتزام بالمعايير الأخلاقية للحفاظ على أصالة القطعة وعمرها الطبيعي وقيمتها التاريخية، ومعالجة قيمتها المادية وتعزيز جوانبها الجمالية وخلق بيئة مناسبة لحمايتها والحفاظ عليها. يظهر الترس الموجود في الجزء الأسفل من صندوق العرض عملية الترميم التي أجراها صاحب المجموعة فاضل المنصوري، إذ قام بتطبيق تقنيات الترميم الأساسية على مجموعته باستخدام الأبحاث واستشارة خبراء المتاحف إلى جانب اجتهاده الشخصي.

Conservation is the art of reviving a piece while preserving for future generations the integrity and different values of a historical object. It is a continued challenge for museums and private collectors that requires a combined historical, artistic, scientific, technological and practical knowledge. Conserving an object implies to follow an ethical code in order to preserve the authenticity, the natural aging and historical value of an object, while treating its physical materiality, enhancing its aesthetical aspect, as well as creating and maintaining a protective environment to preserve it. The shield on the lower part of this display shows the process undertook by the collector Fadel al Mansoori. He implements basic conservation techniques on his collection, using research as well as advice from museums’ professionals alongside his own creativity.
