North Korea, meanwhile, is once again demanding that South Korea and the U.S. suspend their joint military drills, with another exercise coming up this summer.
An editorial in the Tuesday edition of the state-run Rodong Sinmun newspaper said... that the Ulchi Freedom Guardian exercise,... a computerized drill scheduled by the allies for August,... "does more harm than good."
It also said that if the U.S. is sincere about holding next month's summit, then the exercise should not go ahead.
Following the report, the spokesperson for South Korea's defense ministry told reporters during a regular briefing... that the military plans on conducting the drills as planned.
The allies held another drill two weeks ago called Max Thunder, which the North also criticized.
