MERCURY DIESEL 6.7L 550HP - BUZZI 38 STAB CORSA - 4K Review - The Boat Show
  • 6 years ago
The new 550 hp Mercury Diesel 6.7L engine tested on the Buzzi 38 Stab Corsa of the FB Design. This is a six-cylinder with 24 valves of 6700 cc equipped with common rail and supercharged with fixed geometry turbine and post-cooled. The connecting rods are made with Fracture Split technology. It complies with EPA Tier 3 and RCD 2 standards. This diesel has surprising technical parameters: weight / power ratio 1.31 kg / hp, power / displacement ratio 82 hp / liter and volume / power ratio 1.45 dm3 / cv. The maximum torque is 1580 Nm at 1900 rpm and the rated engine speed is 3,200 rpm. To respond to the harshest stress caused by high speeds on the water, the engine is equipped with a reinforcing element called the "ladder frame". The new Mercury Diesel engine is compatible with the full range of Mercury SmartCraft electronic controls and devices, including Joystick Piloting systems for inboard and pod drives. The hull is made of Kevlar with the "Structural Foam" technology patented by FB Design that makes it unsinkable. The "Stab", ie the lateral penumbing stabilizers, control the heels and recover part of the energy dissipated on the waves. Its measures allow easy transport around the world within a 40 'container thanks to a width of 2 meters 33 cm with deflated tubulars. The equipment of the Buzzi 38 Stab Corsa provides the automatic control of the flaps to obtain a constant set-up at any speed, adjustable cushioned seats based on body weight and with variable stroke on three different pressure levels, aeronautical fuel tanks to resist to the hardest stresses, new ZF inverter with reduced overall dimensions and minimum noise, ZF surface propulsion system and ballast with loading / unloading control on the dashboard to change the trim on the rough. The designer and builder is Fabio Buzzi, the only man in the world able to design and build boats and propulsion systems and to drive them beyond all limits. The basis of this engine is built in Italy by FPT Industrial. On this boat proves to have extraordinary acceleration and speed performance, it is not just a racing engine; on a 17-meter and 25-tonne shuttle we recorded a consumption of 1 liter per mile at 7 knots, a record value for the economy. On this boat it is difficult to make only 7 knots ... we see that speed has touched Maurizio Bulleri ...
